Facelift Surgery FAQs
A facelift is a great way to improve the overall appearance of your face and to minimize the appearance of facial wrinkles. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about facelift surgery.
Who is a good candidate for facelift surgery?
The best candidates for facelift surgery are patients who are concerned about signs of aging in the facial area, such as sagging or loose skin and wrinkles. During your consultation, your cosmetic surgeon can thoroughly evaluate your candidacy for this treatment.
What results can I expect?
The facelift is performed to reduce loose skin, tighten underlying facial muscles, and provide a smoother, more youthful appearance. Advances in surgical techniques have made it possible to customize the facelift procedure to meet the individual patient's aesthetic goals. Additionally, depending on the patient's needs, facelift surgery may be combined with other treatments, such as eyelid surgery or BOTOX® Cosmetic, for enhanced results.
When will I see results?
Many people will see positive results within two weeks of their facelift surgery. Most find that their face will continue to tighten naturally for about six months after their surgery as swelling disappears and skin settles into its new position.
How long does it take to recover?
Recovery after facelift surgery typically takes between one to two weeks. After this initial recovery period, most patients are able to return to work and other daily activities. However, more strenuous activities should be avoided for at least four weeks.
How long do results last?
A facelift will improve the signs of aging, but it will not stop the aging process. When your procedure is complete, you will continue to age the same as before the procedure, but you will always look younger than you would have without the surgery.
